Manufactured by Allen-Bradley, the 1774-SD module is a PLC-5 I/O module. The unit is easy to integrate into different Allen-Bradley controllers. For distributed applications, the 1774-SD module comes in an in-cabinet (IP 20) rated enclosure and it is hardened on-machine. It comes with a modular and block design and it features the DeviceLogix smart component technology. The module delivers a low-cost logic solving capability to I/O. For communication support, the 1774-SD I/O module supports the DeviceNet, ControlNet, and the EtherNet/IP communication protocols. The chassis-based I/O module is specifically designed for a particular Allen-Bradley controller which is part of the same product line. The I/O module can be installed locally in the same chassis as the controller. Moreover, the I/O communication networks allow for the even distribution of the I/O to the sensors and the actuators and this minimizes wiring costs.
The Allen-Bradley 1774-SD I/O module comes with the ability to connect up to three chassis with up to 30 I/O modules to a single controller or to the communication adapter. The 1774-SD module works with the ControlLogix I/O module product line that provides a wide range of input and output modules spanning different applications from high speed digital applications to process control applications. It comes with the integrated motion feature on the EtherNet/IP network for supporting a connection to the EtherNet Drives. The 1774-SD module supports the networked devices through the DeviceNet network on one axis to perform point-to-point indexing. Note that separate communication modules are also supported for different networking setups, and the users can install multiple communication modules into the ControlLogix backplane.
