The Allen-Bradley 1788-CN2FFR linking device is a ControlNet to Foundation Fieldbus (FF) linking device. It can bridge a ControlNet connection to a single Foundation Fieldbus H1 segment which supports up to 16 devices. The 2 hardware ports on the H1 segment can both provide 500 milliamps. The 1788-CN2FFR linking device supports multiple network topologies. Power conditioning is also available on the device. The hardware required to install and use the 1788-CN2FFR linking device includes a DC power supply, a ControlNet connection, and an H1 network.
The power supply used to power the 1788-CN2FFR linking device should be a SELV supply which can provide 24 to 32 Volts DC voltage and 0.75 Amps of current. The power consumption and power dissipation ratings for the device at 24 Volts DC are 260 milliamps and 12.24 Watts, respectively. The terminal torque used for DC power connections should be rated between 2 and 2.2 pounds on an inch, while the terminal torque for Fieldbus connections should be rated between 4.4 and 5.3 pounds on an inch. Stranded or solid copper wire with a 0.25 to 0.823 mm2 cross-sectional area should be used for DC power and Fieldbus connections. The non-condensing relative humidity at the location where the 1788-CN2FFR linking device will be installed should be maintained between 5 and 95%. The recommended storage and operating temperature ranges are both from 0 to 60 degrees Celsius. The temperature of the air which surrounds the device should be kept below 60 degrees Celsius. The vibration rating for the 1788-CN2FFR linking device is 0.5 G at 10 to 500 Hertz.
