About 1788-CNF

The Allen-Bradley 1788-CNF module is a FlexLogix and DriveLogix ControlNet module. It is also called a ControlNet Network daughter card. The 1788-CNF module is physically connected to the ControlNet network over its A and B optical cable connectors. It is advised to use one of Rockwell Automation/Allen-Bradley approved cables such as the 1786-FS10, 1786-FS20, 1786-FS60, 1786-FS100, 1786-FS200, and the 1786-FS300 cables, depending on the desired cable length (the last digits of each cable part number represent the cable length in meters). The 1788-CNF daughter card has only one optical channel. The status of the data exchange over this optical channel is shown over the A and B status indicators.

The 1788-CNF module can also be networked through a 1786-CP cable and this is the usual way to connect the programming terminal to the daughter card. The 1786-CP cable is plugged into the NAP connector. The Allen-Bradley 1788-CNF module should be installed or removed from the host module only if it is not powered on (to avoid possible electrical arc occurrences). A steady red indicator light means a major fault has occurred. The 1788-CNF module is suitable for installation in modules that are rated with an operating temperature of 0 to 60 degrees Celsius. It requires a 5 Volts DC voltage supply, and its power consumption is 2.2 Watts.
