The Allen-Bradley 1788-EN2DNR Ethernet I/P to DeviceNet Linking Device. This is an externally mounted module that features Two (2) Ethernet communication ports and One (1) DeviceNet terminal. This module may also act as CIP safety message bridge.
The 1788-EN2DNR Ethernet port supports Thirty-Two (32) Class 0 connections (Safety), 21 Class 1 connections (1 excl. owner, 20 input only/listen only), Sixteen (16) Class 3 connections. It also has an integrated web server that may be accessed using Microsoft Internet explorer, Edge, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and other web-browsers. It also supports beacon-based Device Level Ring (DLR) topology.
The 1788-EN2DNR DeviceNet port is capable of full DeviceNet master operation wherein up to 63 DeviceNet slave devices over Ethernet TCP/IP connection. The DeviceNet port also supports safety I/O, Automatic Device Replacement (ADR) with capacity of 256 KB, Quick connect and I/O slave messaging such as bit strobe, polling, cyclic and change of state. The scanner configuration of the 1788-EN2DNR is configurable using RSNetworx for DeviceNet.
The 1788-EN2DNR is an IP20 rated device, compatible for Class 0 CIP Safety connections with 5 ms maximum delay from network to network. This linking device centralizes data storage, input and output tables shared between the networks. This device is displayed as a single device in the network using standard protocol mechanism.
The1788-EN2DNR has an operating temperature of 0…60 °C (32…140 °F) and storage temperature of -40…85 °C (-40…185 °F). Being an externally mounted device, this module is powered by an external 24V DC SELV/PELV supply voltage. This module is mounted using a standard DIN rail.
The 1788-EN2DNR linking device is designed for indoor use only. It should be installed in an enclosure with suitable flame-retardant characteristics. The USB port provided on the device is only intended for temporary local programming and therefore it should not be permanently connected. The power supply for the 1788-EN2DNR linking device requires 24 Volts DC input voltage with a maximum of 150 milliamps of current. The device’ enclosure is open. For power connections, 22 to 14 AWG solid or stranded copper wire rated at 105 degrees Celsius or greater should be used. For Ethernet connections, 2 or 4-pair Category 5e or Category 5 cables should be used. For DeviceNet connections, 20 AWG 1485C-P1-Cxxx cable should be used.

The 1788-EN2DNR is capable of linking Ethernet and DeviceNet networks.
The 1788-EN2DNR support 63 DeviceNet slaves over Ethernet TCP/IP network.
The 1788-EN2DNR requires an external supply voltage of 24 V DC, 150 mA Class2/SELV.
The Allen-Bradley 1788-EN2DNR EtherNet/IP to DeviceNet Linking Device has a 24V Dc Input Power and a 24V DC DeviceNet Power. The 1788-EN2DNR has an Open Enclosure and a 30g Operating Shock.
The 1788-EN2DNR is an Ethernet I/P to DeviceNet linking device. This module may act as a gateway to connect information, router and bridge. It centralizes data and shares this information for both the communication networks. Compared to 3rd party Ethernet to DeviceNet gateways, the 1788-EN2DNR being manufactured by Allen-Bradley, uses Allen-Bradley configuration software for setting communication parameters of the 1788-EN2DNR, eliminating the need of 3rd party software when installed in a dedicated Allen-Bradley system.
