1791-IOVW

The 1791-IOVW is manufactured by the Allen Bradley unit of Rockwell Automation. This I/O module block consists of 32 sourcing inputs and 32 sinking outputs. Many components such as an interface for programmable control, several small I/O devices with self-contained power supplies, signal conditioning circuitry, and input/output connections are present in this block I/O module. In this device, LED indicators are provided for Fuse, Active, Communication, and Power. In addition, another LED array is available for observing the In/Out status. For making the connections, 37 pins are provided on two separate and removable terminal blocks to make connections to the remote I/O. Separately, a terminal block is also provided for connecting the remote I/O link with external power. Also, the device has various configuration switches along with a rack address switch and a termination register switch. These configuration switches could be used to set different settings like baud rate, I/O group, last state, last rack, and processor restart lockout. In the 1791-IOVW, one gets the multi-functionality of an adapter, power supply, I/O module, and I/O rake in one device.

It is advised to use an 18 to 26.4 Volt DC supply for any connections to external power. The 1791-IOVW dissipates maximum thermal heat at the rate of 51.8 BTU/hr and dissipates maximum power 15.1 Watts. This I/O module has the dimensions 156.21 X 17 X 44.7 millimeters. While connecting wires to the device, remember to use stranded wires of 14 gauge. Also, the device rated for operation between 0 to 60 degree Celsius though it can be stored between -40 to 85 degrees Celsius. While making the connections, always connect the right side terminals to the output and the left side terminals to the input. When making the remote I/O link connection, always use Belden 9463 type cables and remember to wire the blocks always in series, never wire them in parallel. Always use a terminator register to terminate both ends of a remote I/O link if it is the last block of the system. Finally, it is to be noted that this device is not compatible with following distributed I/O scanner module: 1747-DSN.
