The 1791P-4B4P I/O module is a CompactBlock distributed I/O module that has been manufactured as part of the Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation CompactBlock I/O 1791P series. It can communicate through the Profibus DP network. The 1791P-4B4P distributed I/O module is a base type of distributed I/O module that can connect to expansion modules. It is designed to be a standalone device that can operate without an external power supply and its voltage rating is 24 Volts DC. The 1791P-4B4P distributed I/O module can operate safely in Pollution Degree 2 rated industrial environments if it is installed in a secondary enclosure.

The Allen-Bradley 1791P-4B4P is a 4-sinking input and 4-sourcing output CompactBlock module made for the PROFIBUS DP, with the outputs and inputs combined into groups of 4 or groups of 8 in a block. Its output voltage range is 10 to 30 Volts DC, with 0.5 amps of maximum output current and a 0.5 Volts DC voltage drop of at the rated current. This module’s maximum output surge current is 1 amps for 10 milliseconds, which is repeatable every 2 seconds, the maximum module current is 0.5 amps per output, and the maximum off-state leakage is 1 milliamps This module’s current during in the on-state is a minimum of 2 milliamps at 10 Volts DC and it is a maximum of 11 milliamps at 30 Volts DC with a minimum of 1.5 milliamps in the off-state.

The 1791P-4B4P has several safety mechanisms that safely deliver or receive power. The safety mechanisms include system circuitry, Opto-isolation, and an input/output indicator. The system circuitry of the 1791P-4B4P prevents any short-circuit accidents in the module. The Opto-isolation prevents high voltage from affecting the system receiving the signal. The input/output indicator allows you to check the condition of the input/output of this module. There are also other indicators for module status and network status. The 1791P-4B4P has similar specifications to other CompactBlock modules in the 1791P blocks I/O series. To turn on, this module needs a current between 2 and 11 milliamps. This condition can be met if the maximum temperature is 40 degrees Celsius. If the maximum temperature is 60 degrees Celsius, the maximum on-state voltage will be only 25 Volts DC. This module also has IEC/NEMA type 3+ input. The inputs of this module are compatible with various sensors. To connect the 1791P-4B4P with any inputs or sensors, you can use the removable terminal block. The terminal block helps to wire any sensors easily. The 1791P-4B4P has an output voltage between 10 and 30 Volts DC. This range can be used by a lot of devices. Be sure that the devices that you connect to it will have enough power to be turned on.
