The Allen-Bradley 1769-ASCII module is a general-purpose channel module. It provides 2 independent channels for ASCII devices and supplies them with a flexible network interface. The 1769-ASCII provides communication connections to other ASCII devices which are serially-isolated from the back-plane and from each other. It has 3-different media which can link to the serial devices and be auto selected when connected to the 1769-ASCII's 9-pin D-sub connector. When the desired media is selected, the 1769-ASCII module will project it. It sends data through the serial port when the controller is in Run mode and it delivers data received in the serial port to the controller when not in Run mode.
The Allen-Bradley 1769-ASCII can configure up 31 words. It has inputs composed of 2 full duplexes (RS-232, RS-422) and 2 half duplexes (RS-485). It has two DB-9 male (with pins) serial port connectors. The module's serial input voltage signal is 3-25V DC on signal ground 0 when active and 3-25 V DC on signal ground 1 when inactive.
