The Allen-Bradley 1769-IF4I is a part of the 1769 CompactLogix 5370 Controller series. It is an Analog Current/Voltage Isolated Input Module with 4 differential analog input channels. It digitally stores and converts analog data for use by controllers like the MicroLogix 1500 controller and the CompactLogix controller. It has dimensions of 4.65 x 3.43 x 1.38 in. and a weight of 0.65 lbs. The 1769-IF4I has a Delta-Sigma converter and it is programmed with RSLogix 500 / 5000 programming software (Version 8.1 and above). This modules receives signals from instruments that sends 0-20 mA and 4-20 mA current and +/-10 VDC voltage signals. It only supports differential signal wiring configuration. Due to isolation, the module is capable of mixed signal as inputs. Individually isolated channels allow wiring of signals with different power sources and potentials.
Analog input signals from instruments represent the magnitude of a process variable. The received signal by the channel is also converted to a Sixteen (16) bit integer and called as raw data. This raw data is process and conditioned with the use of Scale instructions provided within the programming software. This programming software packages depend on the controller used. If used with MicroLogix 1500, the programming software to be used is RSLogix 500. If used with CompactLogix controllers, use RSLogix 5000 or Studio 5000 programming software.
Compatible current signals for this module are 0-20 mA and 4-20mA with full signal ranges of 0-21 mA and 3.2 - 21 mA while compatible voltage signals are +/10VDC, 1-5VDC, 0-5VDC, 0-10VDC with full signal ranges of +/- 10.5 VDC, 0.5 - 5.25 VDC, -0.5 - +5.25VDC, -0.5 - +10.5VDC respectively. Regardless of the input type, the received analog input is converted to binary signal by the integral Analog to Digital (ADC) circuit. The data processed by the module can be configured as engineering units, scaled for PID, percent range and raw data and stored at the Central Processing Unit’s (CPU) registers.
