The 1769-OA8 is a Compact I/O module that is used with MicroLogix 1500 and 1769 CompactLogix family of controllers. This module is a single slot width module that features Eight (8) AC input channels operating at a voltage category of 100/240V AC.
This module may also be used with DeviceNet and Ethernet communication adapter with part numbers 1769-ADN and 1769-AENTR respectively. This module is typically used to drive AC loads such as magnetic contactors, AC relays, Variable Frequency Drives (VFD), Motor Starters, Solenoid actuators, Pilot lamps and other devices. Depending on the controller used, the programming softawre for this module varies. These parameters include module inhibition, packet interval, slot assignment and revision number.
The input channels of this module are grouped in Two (2), having Four (4) channels. Each group is provided with an independent AC common terminal. One group may operate in different voltage categories or both groups may have the same voltage category. Input group 1 are the first half of the 8 inputs specifically, channels 0, 1, ,2 and 3 while the remaining channels are input channels 4, 5, 6 and 7 which make up group 2.
When installing this module to a CompactLogix assembly, this module must not be installed more than Eight (8) modules away from the power supply. This requirement refers to the Power Supply Distance Rating. If installed with MicroLogix, this module is installed after the base unit, connected by a ribbon cable to establish communication bus connection.

Allen-Bradley 1769-OA8 CompactLogix 8 PT. | 120-240 VAC Output I-O Module.
The 1769-OA8 compact I/O module is an AC output module that can be directly used to energize magnetic contactors, relays and other electrical loads. This eliminates the need of interposing relays which directly contributes to cost effectivity as the panel size is reduced, electrical components are minimized, lesser wires and wiring works.
