The Allen-Bradley 1769-SM1 CompactLogix module is a member of the compact I/O-to-DPI/SCANport module series that uses the RSLogix5000 software. This module can be used for expansion I/O on MicroLogix 1500 and CompactLogix controllers. The 1769-SM1 has a remote 1769-based adapter which automatically detects the DPI or SCANport host connected to a channel and autobauds to the host’s data rate.
In addition, the 1769-SM1 module is compatible with the Allen-Bradley PowerFlex 7-Class drives, with products that support DPI, and with other products that back up SCANport. This part of the CompactLogix module has a 280 mA (at 5V DC) module consumption and a 60 mA (at 12V DC) channel consumption. It cannot be more than 6 modules away from the power supply, thus giving it a power supply distance rating of 6. In addition, this module has dimensions of 118 mm x 87 mm x 35 mm and a weight of 142g.
The 1769-SM1 connects to PowerFlex® 7-class drives and it cannot function in a location that contains volatile or corrosive gas, vapors, or dust in the atmosphere. Furthermore, the 1769-SM1’s operating temperature of -10-50°C or 14-122°F and it must not be kept in a corrosive atmosphere. This module must have a cable length from the SCANport Host of 10 m and 75 m and from the DPI Host with a 500 kbps DPI data rate 100 m (328 ft.) with a 125 kbps DPI data rate.
