The Allen-Bradley 5069-IB8S is a Compact 5000 I/O module. This module is a Digital Eight (8) channel safety input module. It supports sinking wiring configuration and suitable for use in applications that require up to and including Safety Integrity Level (SIL) CL3 and PLe, Cat. 4 as indicated by international standards IEC 61508, IEC 61511, IEC 62061, and ISO 13849-1.

This module may be used as local module of any Compact GuardLogix 5380 Controller. It may also act as a distributed I/O component of GuardLogix 5580 controllers.

The 5069-IB8S mainly features Eight (8) safety input channels. It also has Two (2) test outputs and channels and Two (2) test output / muting output channels. To achieve the intended rating of the 5069-IB8S, the controller assembly as well as input devices must comply with some criteria including Fault Exclusion is External Wiring fault, sensors used are similarly SIL CL3, PLd, Cat. 3 rated sensors and any of configurations such as Input Point Mode = Safety Pulse Test or Test Output Mode = Pulse Test or Input Point Mode = Safety or Test Output Mode = Power Supply.
