The Allen-Bradley 5069-L310ERMS2 is safety controller from the Compact GuardLogix product family. This controller is applicable for use in applications that require integrated safety up to and including Safety Integrity Level (SIL) 2 category. This controller comes with standard and safety functions and individual allocations for tasks and user memory.
The 5069-L310ERMS2 is a Programmable Automation Controller (PAC). It has compact and highly scalable that naturally fits modern automation requirements. With its dual ethernet interface, connection to existing Ethernet networks, whether Star, Linear or Ring topology is supported. These ports may operate with single or dual IP address, as integrated switch or Device Level Ring (DLR) component. These ports support 10 /100 Mbps fast ethernet speed and 1Gbps communication speed, operating in full duplex mode.
The controller’s standard PAC compatibility is enabled by the 1 MB user memory and pre-supplied 2 GB non-volatile memory via the 1784-SD2 Secure Digital (SD) card which may be expanded up to 32 GB. For standard PAC functions, up to 31 Tasks may be configured wherein 1000 programs can be handles by a single task, using all event triggers. For safety functionality, a dedicated safety memory amounting to 0.5 MB is provided, however, only One (1) safety task may be configured but this safety task can handle up to 1000 programs as well.
For motion control, the 5069-L310ERMS2 support integrated motion over Ethernet IP/ Up to 256 motion axes and 4 CIP Drive axes can be configured with this controller.
It does not have an enclosure, and this helps to make it as small, light, and easy to install as possible, but it also means that it can be easily damaged by dust, debris, chemicals, water, and other liquids. To protect the 5069-L310ERMS2 controller and to extend its operating life, Allen-Bradley recommends installing it in an enclosure with the right protection rating to keep it safe in its intended operating environment. The Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation 5069 CompactLogix 5069-L310ERMS2 controller is meant to be mounted on a DIN rail and mounted in a horizontal position. It can also be mounted with a removable terminal block or RTB that is sold separately. Its built-in memory capacity can also be expanded by installing an optional non-volatile expansion memory module. The 5069-L310ERMS2 controller only has 1 MB of user memory capacity and only 0.5 MB of safety memory capacity on its own, so an expansion memory module makes it possible for the controller to store more data and to handle more applications. This controller uses the Ethernet industrial network for communication and comes with 2 Ethernet ports for this purpose.
