The Allen-Bradley 5069-L3100ERMS3 is a SIL 3 rated Compact GuardLogix controller. This Programmable Automation Controller (PAC) functions as a standard and safety controller at the same time that is applicable in applications that require up to and including SIL 3 rated applications. Aside from integrated safety, this controller is also capable of implementing motion controller over ethernet I/P network.

The 5069-L3100ERMS3 is capable of implementing automation requirement with I/O modules locally installed or via distributed I/O architecture. Up to Eight (8) local I/O modules may be installed along the controller while distributed I/O is implemented with the use of an Ethernet I/P communication adapter. Being a safety controller, this controller supports combination of standard and safety I/O module. Standard I/O signals must be wired to the standard I/O modules and safety I/O such as light curtains and similar devices must be wired to the corresponding safety I/O modules.

For standard programs, up to 31 Tasks may be configured while only 1 safety task may be assigned to perform safety programs however, each task, whether standard or safety task, support up to 1000 programs and able to use every possible triggers.

The 5069-L3100ERMS3 has provided with 1 MB user memory and 0.5 MB safety memory. In addition, programming languages that may be used with standard task are Ladder Diagram (LD), Structured Text (ST), Function Block Diagram (FBD) and Sequential Function Chart (SFC) while RLL and the additional safety application instructions for the safety task.

The Allen-Bradley 5069-L310ERMS3 controller from the CompactLogix 5069 series and the Compact GuardLogix 5380 SIL 3 series is an Ethernet controller that can communicate with other controllers and field devices through the Ethernet network at rates of 10 Mbps, 100 Mbps, or even speeds of 1 Gbps. It is equipped with 2 Ethernet ports, and it supports both the Linear/DLR Ethernet operating mode and the Dual-IP Ethernet operating mode. In the Linear/DLR Ethernet operating mode, the 5069-L310ERMS3 controller uses 1 IP address for both of its Ethernet ports, but in the Dual-IP Ethernet operating mode, the controller uses a different IP address for each Ethernet port, in other words, it uses 2 IP addresses at once. This controller supports the DLR, linear, and star Ethernet topologies, and it can be programmed in the Ladder Diagram, Structured Text, Function Block Diagram, or Sequential Function Chart programming languages.
