The 5069-L340ERM is a motion control capable CompactLogix 5380 controller. It is a Programmable Automation Controller (PAC) that mainly features a 4Mb user memory and 2 GB non-volatile memory courtesy of the provided 1784-SD2 Secure Digital (SD) card that comes with the controller. Aside from these built-in memory capacities, the 5069-L340ERM is provided with dual Ethernet I/P interfaces that support fast ethernet and gigabit speeds, specifically, 10 / 100 Mbps and 1000 Gbps.
The supported Ethernet networking topologies of this controller include Linear, Star and Device Level Ring (DLR) topologies. With Linear and Star, simplex and straight forward connection is established. With DLR, network redundancy and fault tolerance is achieved, increasing the availability of the communication network. Up to 90 Ethernet nodes and 32 socket connections may be handled by this controller. Only the Ethernet port is used for industrial communication such as communication with Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, Human Machine Interfaces (HMI) and other control systems.
The 5069-L340ERM motion capability includes support up to a maximum number of 256 motion axes which may be composed of Any combination of CIP Drive axis, Virtual axis, Consumed, Regenerative AC/DC Converter and Non-Regenerative AC/DC Converter axis types. Additionally, up to 20 Common Industrial Protocol (CIP) drive axes may be configured with this controller. To configure this controller, Studio 5000 Logix Designer is used, version 31 of later.
It also comes with support for up to 32 socket interfaces, 90 Ethernet/IP nodes, and up to 31 local I/O modules, as well as support for the Dual-IP mode and the linear/DLR mode for the Ethernet/IP. The ports present on this controller are 1 Type B USB 2.0 port and 2 Ethernet/IP ports, which are full-duplex and Ethernet performance of 10-100 Mbps and 1 Gbps. The 5069-L340ERM also has a 4 MB controller capacity, 1784-SD2 2 GB memory card that comes with the controller.
The 5069-L340ERM controller’s integrated motion is up to 256 axes. The Module Power bus (MOD Power) current rating of the 5069-L340ERM is 9.55 A, the maximum current is 450 mA, and the inrush is 850 mA for 125 ms, while its voltage range and Passthrough voltage range are both 18-32V DC. The Sensor Actuator (SA) maximum Field Power currents of this controller are 25 mA for the AC power and 10 mA for the DC power, the Power Bus maximum current ratings are 9.975 A for the AC power and 9.95 A for the DC power, and both the Field Power voltage ranges and the Passthrough voltage ranges are 0-32V DC, 0-240V AC at 47-63 Hz and ATEX/IECEX, with a maximum voltage of 125V AC.
