The 5069-L350ERS2 is a Compact GuardLogix controller from Allen-Bradley. This controller is SIL 2 rated and comes within a relatively small, compact and scalable hardware that performs both standard and safety functions at the same time. This controller is especially designed to directly use the Compact 5000 I/O family as local I/O and distributed I/O modules. Being a safety controller at the same time, this GuardLogix product supports combination of both standard Compact 5000 I/O and Safety Compact GuardLogix I/O modules both in the local and distributed I/O station.

To handle standard and safety functions, the 5069-L350ERS2 is equipped with 5 MB standard user memory and 2.5 MB safety memory. Similarly, this controller can be configured with up to 32 Tasks which is made of 31 Tasks, assignable for standard function and 1 Task, configurable as safety task. Each task, regardless of the defined type, supports up to 1000 programs and can utilize all provided triggers to execute the program within. The provided memory to this controller also include a 2 GB non-volatile memory which can be removed and replaced as it is a Secure Digital (SD) card only. However, it is of industrial type as recommended SD cards are 1784-SD1 (1 GB), 1784-SD2 (2 GB), ships1784-SDHC8 (8 GB), 1784-SDHC32 (32 GB) and 9509-CMSDCD4 (4 GB) CodeMeter CmCard card. By default, a 1784-SD2, 2 GB memory card is shipped with the controller.

This controller is provided with 2 Ethernet ports for industrial communication and 1 USB port for local configuration. Ethernet can be configured to support 10 / 100 Mbps and 1 Gbps transfer speed while the USB 2.0 port is naturally a 12 Mbps communication port.

This controller can work with 1 or 2 Ethernet/IP addresses, depending on the mode that it is operating in. When the Allen-Bradley 5069-L350ERS2 controller is operating in the Dual-IP Ethernet mode, it needs to have 2 Ethernet/IP addresses, specifically 1 Ethernet/IP address for each Ethernet port. However, when the 5069-L350ERS2 controller is operating in the Linear/DLR Ethernet mode, it only needs to have 1 Ethernet/IP address. The Ethernet communication speeds supported by the 5069-L350ERS2 controller are 10 Mbps, 100 Mbps, or even 1 Gbps. The 5069-L350ERS2 controller is one of the most efficient and sophisticated controllers available from the 5069 CompactLogix series because it can support 120 Ethernet nodes at a time, more than most other controllers.
