The Allen-Bradley 5069-L380ERMS2 is a Compact GuardLogix controller that is part of the modern Compact 5380 product family. This controller features modern design and equipped with modern and enhanced connectivity features. It can be used to easily integrate with modern and higher-level control systems that require compliance to Safety Integrity Level (SIL) 2 rating.

The 5069-L380ERMS2 performs standard and safety function at the same tie. This controller is built will all the functions expected to a standard PAC with the added safety capability. It is provided with a dedicated 1 Safety where up to 1000 safety programs may be downloaded. Similarly, up to 31 Standard tasks may be defined which can hold up the same amount of programs.

Additionally, the controller has a dedicated 8 MB user memory for standard functions and 4 MB safety memory for safety functions. It also has a non-volatile memory amounting to 2 GB which can be replaced and expanded up to 32 GB. Allen-Bradley recommended industrial grade Secure Digital (SD) cards include 1784-SD1 (1 GB);1784-SD2 (2 GB), that ships with controller; 1784-SDHC8 (8 GB); 1784-SDHC32 (32 GB); and 9509-CMSDCD4 (4 GB) CodeMeter CmCard card.

The support the specified programming languages by the IEC 61131-3 standard. To programs the standard functions, programming languages such as Ladder (LD), Function Block Diagram (FBD), Sequential Function Chart (SFC) and Statement List (STL) may be used. For Safety program, only RLL and the additional safety application instructions are permitted.

The 5069-L380ERMS2 controller supports 31 local I/O modules in 1 application system, and it comes with 4 MB of safety memory and 8 MB of user memory. If more memory is needed, an optional non-volatile memory expansion module like the Allen-Bradley 1784-SD1 and 1784-SD2 memory expansion modules can be installed.
