The Allen-Bradley 5069-L380ERS2 is part of the Compact GuardLogix product category. This controller is a safety controller however, maintains the capability of a standard Programable Automation Controller (PAC). This controller is used in applications that require SIL 2 rating integrated safety.

Up to 31 Task can be configured with this device where in, 31 tasks are standard and 1 task is a safety task. It comes with Two (2) Ethernet communication interface that support 10/100 /1 Gbps communication rate over network topologies such as Liner, Star and Device Level Ring (DLR). It comes with 8 MB user memory and 4 MB safety memory along a 2 GB Secure Digital (SD) card that provides the expandable non-volatile memory area.

This controller support Din rail mounting and horizontal orientation only. It requires use of a zinc-plated, chromate steel DIN rail or the EN50022 Din rail that measures 35 x 7.5 mm (1.38 x 0.30 in.). It uses Removable Terminal Block for termination of SA and MOD power. Applicable Terminal block kits are 5069-RTB64-SCREW and 5069-RTB64-SPRING kits.

This safety controller also comes with a USB 2.0 Type B port that supports transfer speed of up to 12 Mbps.

The 5069-L380ERS2 controller does not have an enclosure because it is open-style equipment. It is easy to install because it does not have an enclosure, and it can be installed inside an external enclosure for protection to extend its operating life. With or without an enclosure, the 5069-L380ERS2 controller should only be mounted horizontally and mounted on a DIN rail. The Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation 5069 CompactLogix 5069-L380ERS2 controller uses Category 3 wire on its USB port, it uses Category 1 wire on the power port, and it uses Category 2 wire on the Ethernet ports. It can tolerate 5 to 95% relative humidity levels in operation and in storage as long as the humidity never condenses. The ambient operating temperature range for the 5069-L380ERS2 controller is 32 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit or 0 to 60 degrees Celsius. The ambient storage temperature range for this controller is -40 to 185 degrees Fahrenheit or -40 to 85 degrees Celsius. The 5069-L380ERS2 controller comes with the T4 temperature code ratings from the North American Temperature Code, the ATEX Temperature Code, and the IECEx Temperature Code. This controller can withstand 5 g of maximum operating vibration at 10 to 500 Hertz.
