The SST-ESR2-CPX-P module is a PLC communication PLUS module for MODBUS systems. It supports MODBUS Master/Slave ASCII and RTU MODBUS TCP/UDP Client/Server communications. This device is an in-rack module for Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation CompactLogix PLCs (L2 and L3 controllers). The SST-ESR2-CPX-P module integrates MODBUS and MODBUS/TCP protocols for delivering efficient and low-cost networking in applications related to industrial automation. It is carefully designed to safeguard data transmission and to be a robust and reliable networking solution with high resistance to electrical noise. It is installed in complex machines in the oil and gas industry and water and waste treatment plants. These are industrial fields that try to simplify communication and data acquisition by installing the SST-ESR2-CPX-P module. The module includes an SD card for data storage. There are built-in LED status lights on the front of the module. These LEDs are the OK, STATE, LINK, SPEED, SD, and FAULT LEDs.

The SST-ESR2-CPX-P module uses the Configuration Console engineering tool, and its configuration is stored on the SD card. One of the main purposes of this module is to reduce the engineering time needed for building machines because it eliminates the CompactLogix direct mapping of MODBUS I/O and time-consuming ladder logic writing. It will also handle data-intensive applications efficiently and reduce commissioning time. Users can use one 10/100 Mbps Ethernet port for the MODBUS TCP, diagnostics, and configuration of the device. There are also 2 RS232/RS485/RS422 serial ports (configurable from 110 bps to 115.2 kbps). All ports are 2,500 Volts galvanic isolated. The operating temperature of the module is 0 to 60 degrees Celsius. It is CE, RoHS, and FCC certified device.
