The 1756-HIST2G is an Allen Bradley manufactured ControlLogix device. It is part of the Factory Talk Historian ME communication module. It is widely used in an industry-based device for distributing the implementation of motion and gives flexible control to the user. It is equipped with a non-removable Lithium battery and comes with a Precision Real-Time Clock. The ControlLogix has a power consumption of 5 Watts under normal load and a maximum of 7 Watts. The module has no fan present. It comes with a single Ethernet 10/100 T IEEE 802.3 adapter. It is mainly used for communication purpose. Using this ethernet port, the device can transfer data and diagnostics information. The 1756-HIST2G uses an AMD LX800 system memory with 500 MHz x86 specification. The ControlLogix also has a battery-backed memory of 512 Kilobytes SRAM. The Cache memory of the device is 128 K L1 and 128 K L2. The ControlLogix uses Compact Flash memory which is a Type 2 memory with DMA. The 1756-HIST2G ControlLogix has a compact dimension and has a specification of 5.6x1.4x5.5 inches. Due to the compact nature, it can be installed in a small space.

The module can only be operated within a range of -40 to 185 degrees Fahrenheit and non-operating from 32 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit. The module can also be mounted inside a ControlLogix chassis for backplane communication and to collect data from different controllers. The 1756-HIST2G required an ambient temperature with a relative humidity between 5 and 95%, non-condensing. The module is backed with different standard certification including the C/US, UL, C-Tick, etc. The module sets a new standard for the PLC to deliver high performance required by the application. It is also capable of controlling both local I/O as well as remote based I/O.
