The Allen-Bradley 1756-L76 is a chassis-based module that belongs to Series A and B of Bulletin 1756 ControlLogix product line. This module is an efficient processor with an available user memory of 64MB. This module is also certified by the Low Voltage Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC), and Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directives; the ATEX Directive is not necessary for this product. The current draw rating for this controller is around 5mA at 1.2 Volts DC, or 800mA at 5.1 Volts DC. Its power dissipation remains at 2.5 Watts while its thermal dissipation stays close to 8.5 BTU per hour. This controller also uses a standard power supply and has an open-type enclosure. The 1756-L76 controller may be installed into any ControlLogix I/O module chassis’ slot, which also allows other controllers to be mounted in the same chassis. To provide communication for the 1756-L76 controller, install the proper communication interface module in the chassis. This controller also features a built-in USB port, although this port is not meant or permanent connection, but for temporary local programming means only. Other features of this product include controller tasks, communication options, controller redundancy, integrated motion, and language programming.
The 1756-L76 ControlLogix Module provides an adaptable controller solution and has the ability to address large amounts of input/output points. It can also control and monitor the I/O across the backplane of the ControlLogix as well as the ControlNet or the EtherNet/IP networks. This module has an inherent time-stamping ability for SOE (sequence of events) applications and provides extensive diagnostic capabilities to detect both field-side errors and system failures. The 1756-L76 provides electronic keying as well, in order to help keep alternative errors from occurring. For ease of maintenance, the controllers under this series offer an RIUP (Removal and Insertion Under Power) feature.
