The 1756-L81EK controller has 3 MB of user memory and it supports 100 Ethernet/IP nodes. Depending on the users’ preferences, the Function Block Diagram (FBD), Ladder Diagram (LD), Structured Text (ST), and the Sequential Function Chart (SFC) programming languages are available to the users.

The Allen-Bradley 1756-L81EK ControlLogix 5580 controller has 2 communication ports which are the USB 2.0 and Ethernet/IP ports. The device is able to communicate over the EtherNet/IP, DeviceNet, ControlNet, Remote I/O, Data Highway Plus, or the SynchLink networks. It supports 32 tasks with 1000 programs for each task. The 1756-L81EK controller, like all ControlLogix controllers, supports electronic keying protection for the cross-checking of the configured and installed hardware in the control system. On the front side of the controller, there is an “OK LED” indicator that glows solid green when the device operates normally, and it is red when the device is performing power-up diagnostics or when the unit is powered up but inoperable. The “RUN LED”  shows the current mode of the controller and it glows green in normal operation mode.
