The Allen-Bradley 1756-OB16IEFS is a ControlLogix DC digital module that is electronically protected and has fast output. It has 16 scheduled, high-speed, individually-isolated, electronically-fused outputs. This is the only module that can function in a remote chassis with the Motion Axis Output Cam (MAOC) instruction. It is also the only one that can receive output data while in this function. It is a CIP Sync slave-only device that uses CIP Sync for scheduling and timestamps. It can only be installed on a chassis when it has a removable terminal block housing, or RTB, which can either be the 1756-TBCH and the 1756-TBS6H.

The module also provides time-scheduled output control for outputs 0 to 15 in CIP Sync Time. It also enables schedules at a minimum of 5-µs interval.

The 1756-OB16IEFS module has an inrush pilot duty of 4 A. Its operating voltage range is 10 to 30 V DC and its voltage category is 12/24 V DC sink/source. Its current draw at 5.1 V is 320 mA and at 24 V, it is 3 mA. This module has a total backplane power of 1.7 W, a maximum off-state leakage current of < 0.1 mA per point, a surge current of 4 A for 10 ms per point, which can repeat every 2 s, and a maximum on-state voltage drop of 0.4 V DC at 2 A and 0.2 V DC at 1 A. Its maximum current per point is 2 A at 45 Degrees Celsius (4 channels max) and 1 A at 60 Degrees Celsius, while its maximum current per module is 16 A at 60 Degrees Celsius (maximum of 1 A per channel) and 8 A at 45 Degrees Celsius (maximum of 2 A per channel). It has a minimum load current of 1 mA per point and a continuous isolation voltage of 250V.

It has an unscheduled output delay time of a nominal 14µs and a maximum of 23µs from off to on, and vice versa. The module has a Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) cycle time of 1 ms min/1 hour max, a PWM on time of 200 µs min/1 hour max, and a PWM on-time accuracy of +/- 20 µs.

The following can be configured in the module: states in Fault Mode (Hold Last State, On, or Off), duration of Fault Mode (1, 2, 5, 10 s, Forever), Final State after Fault Mode duration (On or Off), and states in Program mode (Hold Last State, On, or Off). All have the “Off” option by default, except for the Fault Mode duration where the default is “Forever.”
