The Allen-Bradley 1757-FFLDC4 Device is a ControlNet Foundation Fieldbus linking device that features Four (4) Foundation Fieldbus H1 network connections, allowing for up to 64 different Fieldbus devices to interact in the Foundation network. It has an additional ControlNet interface for integrating the devices in the ControlNet network for monitoring and control purposes. The device’ ControlNet address should be manually configured by using the two rotary switches located at the front-left side of the linking device. The Allen-Bradley 1757-FFLDC4 ControlNet Foundation Fieldbus Linking Device needs to be connected to an external power supply with a rated voltage of 24 Volts DC (+/- 10%) and a current rating of 450 milliamps. It has an in-rush current rating of 1.5 Amps and it has 9.6 Watts of power dissipation. Depending on the total heat level that is dissipated by all the elements installed inside the same panel board, a forced ventilation system or climate control system may be required. The maximum operating temperatures should remain below 60 degrees Celsius (140 degrees Fahrenheit). The dimensions of the Allen-Bradley 1757-FFLDC4 ControlNet Foundation Fieldbus Linking Device allow for easy installation on DIN Rails or inside any regular NEMA Type 4/12 enclosure. The most commonly used DIN Rails for mounting this linking device are the 35 x 7.5 or the 35 x 15 DIN Rails.
The 1757-FFLDC4 is a panel mounted device that uses M4 or #8 Screws for mounting. This device specifically features Four (4) Foundation Fieldbus interfaces and One (1) redundant ControlNet interface. Up to Four (4) H1 Foundation Fieldbus networks can be bridge via the ControlNet media with each network capable of supporting up to Sixteen (16) devices. Overall, One (1) 1757-FFLDC4 is capable of linking up to 64 Fieldbus devices.
The 1757-FFLDC4 may be operated when supplied with 24VDC power supply voltage. It has a current rating of 450 mA with Inrush current rating of 1.5 Ampere and power consumption / dissipation of 9.6 Watts. When unpowered, this linking device is capable of retaining program up to 21 days.
For DC power connection, the 1757-FFLDC4 requires signal wires with 0.2-1.5 mm sq. or 26-16 AWG solid or stranded copper wire with insulation rating of 75 °C or 167 °F or higher with maximum insulation thickness of 1.2 mm (3/64 in.). For Fieldbus connections, recommended wires size, insulation thickness and temperature rating are 0.8 mm2 (18 AWG) solid or stranded shielded twisted pair copper wire, rated at 75 °C (167 °F) or greater and 1.2 mm (3/64 in.) insulation max, respectively. To establish ethernet connections, Category 5e cable may be used.
