The Allen Bradley ILX56-MM functions as a message manager within the ControlLogix series. This unit is designed for seamless integration into both local and remote rack systems. It is designed to be inserted into a single slot, making installation straightforward.

Connectivity is enhanced with two Ethernet ports, which facilitate communication with other devices. The onboard display presents a 4-character alpha-numeric output, permitting quick status checks and communications data. The message manager features a rechargeable lithium vanadium pentoxide battery, ensuring reliable operation. Power requirements are specified at a maximum current of 1000mA from the backplane while operating at 5 VDC with a power consumption of no more than 5 watts.

Operating within specified temperature limits ensures the unit operates effectively. It functions within a minimum temperature of 0 °C and can withstand maximum temperatures of up to 60 °C.
