The Logix5573 is a standard logic controller module with a conformal coating from the Logix 5000 family of controllers manufactured by Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation. This open-type controller weighs approximately 0.25 kilograms (0.55 pounds) and is made to be installed in the 1756 chassis. The users have the ability to choose the slot they want to use for installation as well as the ability to install multiple controllers in a single chassis. The controller has 8 MB memory and 0.98 MB I/O memory, and its processors have enough speed and memory to support high-performance applications. The controller draws a current of 5 mA at 1.2 Volts DC, and 800 mA at 5.1 Volts DC. The Logix5573 has a maximum of 128,000 I/O which can be used with a maximum 4,000 analog I/O or up to 128,000 digital I/O. The controller dissipates 2.5 Watts of power and it has 8.5 BTU of thermal dissipation per hour. In addition to this, the controller is protected with 30 Volts of continuous isolation voltage which was tested at 500 Volts AC for 60 seconds. The Logix5573 comes with 1 built-in USB 2.0 full-speed communication port, and it has the capability to perform 32 tasks and 100 programs per periodic task. The controller can be programmed using a Relay Ladder, Structured Text, Function Block Diagram, and Sequential Function Chart (SFC) programming languages. The controller comes with a 1 GB SD (Secure Digital) card which improves the integrity and completes transfers faster. What adds to the appeal of this controller is the ESM (Energy Storage Module) which saves time and relieves the user of having to maintain and replace lithium batteries. The onboard display makes it easy to run controller diagnostics and monitor its operation. The layer of conformal coating provides additional protection for the controller against humidity and other contaminants which can be found in areas with harsh, corrosive atmospheres. The Logix5573 can operate in a place where temperatures reach 60 degrees Celsius (140 degrees Fahrenheit), and it can be stored in an area with temperatures of up to 85 degrees Celsius (185 degrees Fahrenheit). Following the installation and maintenance guidelines will ensure safe and long operation for the controller.

The Allen-Bradley Logix 5573 is part of the ControlLogix Programmable Automation Controller (PAC) platform. This controller belongs to the most recent ControlLogix versions, having an increased memory capacity and supports an increased number of controller connections compared to the previous controller designs.

The Logix 5573 mainly features an integrated 8 MB Data/Logic memory along a 0.98 MB I/O memory Random Access Memory or Volatile memory. It also has a 1 GB non-volatile memory provided by the 1784-SD1 that ships with the controller which can be replaced by the 1784-SD2 with 2 GB of non-volatile memory. Additionally, the Logix 5573 is capable of handling up to 128,000 Discrete Input and Output (I/O) including up to 4000 Analog I/O signals while it can handle up to 128,000 total I/O. This controller is able to execute up to 32 Controller tasks wherein each task may be included with up to 100 programs.

The embedded USB port supports up to 12 MBPS transmission speed. The USB interface is not compatible for serving industrial communication requirements. For industrial communication, the Logix 5573 may be installed with communication modules that support specific communication protocols such as Ethernet I/O, ControlNet, DeviceNet, Data Highway Plus (DH+), Remote I/O (RIO), Synclink, and 3rd-party process.
