The MVI56-AFC liquid and gas flow computer module from Prosoft Technology and inRAx® with RJ45/ DB-9M with a supplied cable interface and RS-232-only serial communication is a powerful addition to the system that is being controlled. This module, like other devices from MVI56 series, is intended for usage with ControlLogix systems in such a way that it accurately and precisely measures hydrocarbon gases or liquids. The main purpose of the flow computer is to calculate flow rates and to get a full report for total volume, mass, and generated heat energy for the liquids/gases that are being specified. The ControlLogix memory is used to transfer calculated results through the backplane for application ladder programs usage. The MVI56-AFC has a backplane current rating of 800 milliAmps at 5 Volts DC and 3 milliAmps at 24 Volts DC and it has LED indicators for the status of a module, backplane transfer, and applications, and indicator for serial activity. Features of the MVI56-AFC include three Modbus ports that are configurable, Modbus data mapping that can be customized, 16 M runs, meter proving, auditability, and data security.
The MVI56-AFC module is single-slot/1756 backplane compatible and it is recognized as an input/output module by the processor for which it is intended. In addition to that, the module includes a sample ladder logic file which is used for the transfer of data between module and processor. The Modbus of the module can be used for downloading the data necessary for a proper configuration. Also, the configuration data for the module can be delivered through the ladder which is defined by the user. Every module from this series comes with RJ45/DB-9M cables for each port and a 6-foot RS-232 configuration cable and they are standardized by being in accordance with standards such as the ANSI/ISA 12.12.01 class I/division 2, CSA/cUL (C22.2 number 213-1987), CSA CB (IEC61010), ATEX EN60079-0 (category 3), EN60079-15, and others. The operating temperature range of the module is between 0 and 60 degrees Celsius (32 and 140 degrees Fahrenheit) while the storage temperature range is between -40 and 85 degrees Celsius (-40 and 185 degrees Fahrenheit). The module is also shock and vibration resistant, and it can withstand non-condensing humidity levels from 5 to 95%.
