The MVI56-MCMR module is a Modbus communication module with a reduced data block. It has been designed and manufactured by Allen-Bradley and ProSoft Technology as a component for the industrial ControlLogix platform. The MVI56-MCMR Modbus communication module is rated for a backplane current level of 800 milliamps at 5 Volts DC voltage or 3 milliamps at 24 Volts DC voltage. It can operate or be stored safely in an environment that has 5 to 95% relative humidity with no condensation. The MVI56-MCMR module’s operating temperature range is from 0 to 60 degrees Celsius or 32 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit and its storage temperature range is from -40 to 85 degrees Celsius or -40 to 185 degrees Fahrenheit. Additionally, the MVI56-MCMR Modbus communication module can toperate 30 g of maximum operating shock, 50 g of maximum non-operating shock, and 5 g of vibration at 10 to 150 Hertz.

The Allen-Bradley and ProSoft Technology MVI56-MCMR Modbus communication module has been certified to be in accordance with several industrial standards, including the CE, CSA, cULus, ATEX, and RoHS standards. It is recommended to provide the MVI56-MCMR Modbus communication module with 256 MB of RAM, but it can operate with as little as 128 MB of RAM in certain applications. It supports a VGA graphics adapter with 256 colors and at least 600 x 800 pixels of resolution, but it is recommended to use a more advanced graphics adapter like the True Color graphics adapter with a resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels. The MVI56-MCMR Modbus communication module is made to be installed in either a remote ControlLogix rack or a local ControlLogix rack, and it uses the Ethernet/IP or ControlNet networks to communicate in the remote rack.
