The MVI56-MNETR module is a Modbus TCP/IP interface module with a reduced data block. It is manufactured by Allen-Bradley and ProSoft Technology. Modbus is a widely used industrial protocol for communication between client and server devices over a network. It allows Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation ControlLogix processors to interface with Modbus-compatible devices, including Modicon programmable automation controllers and other devices. It is equipped with a reduced I/O image block size to transfer data between the module and a ControlLogix processor. It helps to control remote rack applications using process networks. The MVI56-MNETR module is powered with 800 milliamps of current at 5 Volts DC and 3 milliamps current at 24 Volts DC. The communication module comes with a 10/100 Base-T connector, an RJ 45 connector, and LED indicators. The LED indicators show different status including the battery status, process status, and application status.

The Allen-Bradley and ProSoft Technology MVI56-MNETR module is designed to work in a Class I, Division 2 rated industrial environment. It is certified with the ATEX, cULus, RoHS, and CE standards. The operating temperature should range between 0 and 60 degrees Celsius in an environment with non-condensing humidity. The MVI56-MNETR module comes with a single slot and it is backplane compatible. It can also be recognized as an input/output module and it can access the processor memory for data transfers between the processor and module. The communication module uses ladder logic for data transfers between the module and processor. The MVI56-MNETR module  supports the storage and transfer of up to 5000 registers to and from the ControlLogix processor controller tag. The module supports up to 10 servers for the Modbus TCP/IP network and 10 servers for the MNET network.
