The MVI56-WA-PWP module is a wireless network interface module for Allen-Bradley ControlLogix processors. It has been manufactured by Allen-Bradley and Prosoft Technology. It helps to create a powerful wireless connection between remotely located devices and Allen-Bradley ControlLogix processors. The module helps to share information across the application regardless of device or network type at high speed. This network interface module supports Unicast, Broadcast, and multicast messaging. The network module operates on a 2.4 GHz band frequency (2400 to 2483.5 MHz). It uses a direct sequence spread spectrum as a communication medium. The network interface module comes with a single RS-232 serial configuration port, and 2 RP-SMA antenna connectors. The front of the module has LED indicators to show the link status and data status. An RF signal indicator is also present along with the LED indicators.
The Allen-Bradley and Prosoft Technology MVI56-WA-PWP ControlLogix wireless network interface module is certified with the Ex, SA, CE, and other agency approvals. The operating temperature should be set between 0 and 40 degrees Celsius. The MVI56-WA-PWP interface module is a single-slot backplane-compatible unit. The configuration of the module can be done by using a configuration text file that needs to be downloaded to the module. The interface module supports ad hoc modes and it can support up to 20 connections at a time. The MVI56-WA-PWP module uses 800 milliamps of current at 5 Volts DC and 3 milliamps at 24 Volts DC as its backplane current load. The output power of the interface module is 32 milliwatts and it supports channel data rates of 11, 5.5, 2, or 1 Mbps. The wireless interface module uses PWP and WEP encryption options with rollover management features.
