The MVI71-DFCM module is an Allen-Bradley and ProSoft Technology master/slave communication module. It helps to connect Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation PLC I/O compatible processors with other DF1 protocol-compatible devices. The module is used in the industrial sector for different applications including foreign device data concentrators, SCADA system pipelines, food processing, mining, and pulp and paper applications. The MVI71-DFCM module has a compact design and it comes in a single slot that is compatible with the Allen-Bradley 1771 chassis. It can be used with local or remote rack systems. The backplane current load of the interface module is 800 milliamps at a voltage of 5 Volts DC. The master/slave communication module supports both the full and half duplex modes. The MVI71-DFCM module features both CRC and BCC error checking functions. 

The Allen-Bradley and ProSoft Technology MVI71-DFCM master/slave communication module provides full hardware handshaking control for radio modem and multi-drop support. The temperature should be set between 0 and 60 degrees Celsius for operation, and -40 and 85 degrees Celsius for storage. The MVI71-DFCM module can read up to 125 words and it also supports write command lengths. The memory of the module is fully user configurable and it supports transfers of up to 5000 registers to and from the control processor. This communication module supports floating point data. The MVI71-DFCM module comes with an RJ45 CFG port and a configuration connector. The module supports ladder logic for data transfers between the module and the processor. The communication module can be used both as a server and a client device. The module offers configurable parameters for the operators and gives a flexible response delay from 0 to 65535 milliseconds, a response time out of 1 to 65525 milliseconds, and a retry count between 0 and 20.
