The product code MVI94-MBM represents a Flex I/O module that is made for serial communications. The module is made by Allen-Bradley and ProSoft Technology and it is part of the ControlLogix and Modbus Master series. The main purpose of the unit is to provide an interface between Modbus slave devices and the Flex I/O system. The MVI94-MBM communication module includes a virtual user-defined Modbus database with all the necessary commands for request patterns. The database of the MVI94-MBM communications module provides status information and information about faults and errors in the system. The virtual Modbus database uses a Flex I/O backplane and it provides data which is available to all devices connected to the backplane interface. The Modbus master port of these communication modules supports up to 100 commands defined by the users.

The Allen-Bradley and ProSoft Technology MVI94-MBM serial communications module can be configured according to requirements of an application and for specific tasks that require the usage of special commands. The MVI94-MBM communications module comes with 2 ports, including one standard RS-232 port and one jumper-configurable RS-232/422/485 port. Besides the hardware, this communications module supports bi-directional, full duplex serial data transfers and it provides the possibility for an independent configuration of each serial port for parameters like the baud rate, the parity, the word length, the handshaking, the stop bits, and other parameters. The MVI94-MBM communications module has LED indicators for diagnostics and maintenance purposes. This communication module supports the following baud rates: 110, 150, 300, 600, 1200, 2400, 4800, 9600, 19200, 28800, 38400, 57600 and 115200 baud.
