The 1794-ACN Communication Adapter is part of the Allen-Bradley 1794 FLEX I/O series. The adapters in this series can interface FLEX I/O modules to I/O scanner ports over communication networks. The 1794-ACN has an internal power supply which transforms the input voltage from 24 volts DC to 5 volts DC. This provides power for the backplane and the FLEX I/O modules, for transferring and receiving configuration and I/O data. The 1794-ACN is a ControlNet adapter ideal for applications including the high-speed transfer of data between I/O devices and controllers, as well as repeatable data delivery.  Its maximum power consumption is 400 milliamps, from an external 24-volt supply. The maximum FlexBus output current is 640 milliamps at 5 volts DC. Its communication rate is 5 megabits per second, and it can communicate with up to 8 I/O modules. It is possible to connect the 1794-ACN to up to 64 analog input points or 32 analog output points, or 256 digital input/output points. It is also possible to connect the adapter to a mix of analog and digital points. The 1794-ACN is compact and has a dimension of 3.4 x 2.7 x 2.7 inches. It can be mounted on a DIN rail, a panel, or a wall. It is necessary to use Protected Extra Low Voltage (PELV) or Safety Extra Low Voltage (SELV) to comply with the CE Low Voltage Directives.
