The Allen-Bradley 1794-APBDPV1 is a PROFIBUS Flex I/O adapter module. It has an I/O capacity of 8 modules, with communication rates of up to 12 Mbits/s, and an operating voltage range of 19.2-31.2V DC, which includes the 5% AC ripple. It has a nominal power supply input voltage of 24V DC, a power supply current load of 640 mA at 24V, and a power consumption of 9.6 W at 24V. Its maximum power dissipation is 4.2 W at 19.2V DC and its thermal dissipation is 14 BTU/hr also at 19.2V DC. The inrush current is 23 A for 2 ms and the maximum Flexbus output current is 640 mA. The operating temperature of this adapter is 0-55 ËšC and the storage temperature is -40-85 ËšC. It also comes with an operating vibration of 5 g at 10-500 Hz, an operating shock of 30 g, and a non-operating shock of 50 g. The non-condensing relative humidity of this adapter is 5-95%.
This adapter comes with a green/red status indicator, a red/green PROFIBUS red/green indicator, and node address thumbwheel switches. Its isolation voltage, particularly from the PROFIBUS to the backplane and power, is a 50V basic isolation type that has been routine-tested at 850V DC for 1 second and type tested at 850V AC for 60 seconds. The entire adapter measures 3.4 x 2.7 x 2.7 inches and the PROFIBUS connectors compatible with it are a 9-pin D-shell and PROFIBUS standard drop cable.
The 1794-APBDPV1 adapter is grounded using a DIN rail and it is recommended that you use a zinc-plated yellow-chromate steel DIN rail to make sure that it is grounded properly. The DIN rails that use other materials may corrode or oxidize and this may result to intermittent or improper grounding. This adapter can also be wall-mounted. Note that the total power connection wire must not exceed 10 meters and two conductors should not be wired to a single terminal. GSD files are required for all PROFIBUS adapters, including the 1794-APBDPV1.
