The Allen-Bradley 1794-ASB2 is a FLEX remote I/O adapter. It can support up to 2 FLEX I/O modules only. The adapter has possible communication rates of 57.6 Kbps, 115.2 Kbps, and 230.4 Kbps. A 24V DC power supply is required and it should provide an inrush surge current of 23 A for 2 ms for every adapter that is connected to the power supply. It has a current load of 175 mA at a 24V power supply. The nominal input voltage of this adapter is 24V DC and the input voltage range, including the 5% AC ripple, is from 19.2-31.2V DC. This adapter’s maximum FlexBus output current is 640 mA and an output voltage of 5V DC. It also has maximum current draws of 450 mA and 330 mA at 24V DC. The power consumption of the 1794-ASB2 adapter is 4.2 W at 24V DC.
It has a maximum power dissipation of 3.4 W at 19.2V DC and a thermal dissipation of 11.6 BTU/hr at 19.2V DC. This adapter has a basic isolation type and the isolation voltage is a continuous 50V. The isolation has been type-tested from power-to-system, power-to-RIO, and RIO-to-system at 750V DC for 60 seconds.
Red/green status indicators are present with this adapter and these let you know the current states of the power, adapter, and local connection. It has an open enclosure that can be mounted using a DIN rail or a panel mount. It measures 3.4 x 2.7 x 2.7 inches and comes with an IP20 rating.
Note that the 1794-ASB2 adapter should not be used with the classic PLC-5/15 and PLC-5/25 processors. Doing so may result in damage to the remote I/O.
