The Allen-Bradley 1794-IV32 is part of the Flex I/O platform, typically used in implementing distributed I/O topology. This module is specifically a high-density discrete input module that features Thirty-Two (32) current sourcing input channels. This module is designed to accept nominal input signal voltage of 24 VDC, enabling integration of discrete input signals such as switches, auxiliary contacts, sensors, and similarly binary operating devices. The 1794-IV32 is installed along with a Flex I/O assembly with a Flex I/O communication adapter as the header module. The data within the 1794-IV32’s local memory is transferred via the FlexI/O bus which is then forwarded to the host controller through a communication highway. The 1794-IV32 has a FlexBus current draw of 40 mA at 5 VDC. It has a minimum On-state voltage of 19.2 VDC while the maximum On-state voltage is 31.2 VDC. Additionally, the minimum On-state current is 2.0 mA while the maximum is 6.0 mA. Configurable filter times are available to this module specifically, 0.25 ms; 0.5 ms; 1 ms; 2 ms; 4 ms; 8 ms; 16 ms, and 32 ms. Filter times can be used to eliminate false activation due to debouncing or noises. The default filter time is 0.25 ms.
The Allen-Bradley 1794-IV32 digital I/O module is a FLEX I/O module. This module features a keyswitch, Flexbus connector, a module, an alignment bar, a groove, and a latching mechanism. The keyswitch is used to position the 1794-IV32 module on a 1794 series mounting base. The technicians must turn the keyswitch until the pins on the module align with the terminal base’ connectors. The alignment bar and groove on the module make it easier for the technicians to align the module and the base. The 1794-IV32 digital I/O module is securely seated on its mounting base when its latching mechanism is locked in place. To ensure that the 1794-IV32 module operates properly at all times, install it only in the environments that it is rated for. It is made for indoor use only and not for use in residential environments. It can tolerate a pollution level of Pollution Degree 2, an overvoltage level of Overvoltage Category II, and a maximum altitude of 6562 feet. The Allen-Bradley 1794-IV32 digital FLEX I/O module is grounded with the chassis ground and it is connected to the chassis ground through a zinc-plated chromate-passivated steel DIN rail. It can be cleaned when necessary with a dry anti-static cloth that is made of soft fabric, but the module should not be exposed to water or cleaning agents, especially caustic cleaning agents. The 1794-IV32 FLEX I/O module has 32 different yellow status indicator lights that will alert the users to different operating conditions or possible problems. It measures 3.7 x 3.7 x 2.7 inches.
