The Allen-Bradley 1794-OA16 is a Sixteen (16) channel digital output module. This is an AC output module that generates an output voltage range of 74-132 VAC, 47-63 Hz. This module is compatible for use with any Flex I/O communication adapter. This output module is typically used to energize AC loads such as relay coils, solenoid actuated devices, contactors, pilot lamps, and sounding devices such as horn, siren and buzzer. Other electrical loads that operate at a nominal voltage of 120VAC are compatible with this output module.

The 1794-OA16 output channels are non-isolated. This module has an output current rating of 4.0 Amperes with minimum On-state current of 5.0 mA per output and maximum On-state current of 500 mA per output channel when operated at 55 Degrees Celsius. This module has an On-state voltage drop of 1.5V at 0.5 Ampere and has a surge current rating of 7 A for 40 ms, repeatable for every 8 seconds.

The 1794-OA16 has a maximum output signal delay of ½ cycle for both OFF to ON and ON to OFF output transition. This module has a FlexBus current 80 mA @ 5V DC and maximum Power dissipation of 4.7 W @ 0.5 A. It also has a maximum thermal dissipation 16.1 BTU/hr @ 0.5 A and comes with an internal fusing. Built-in fuse is a 2.5 A, 150V AC normal blow, MQ2 fuse.

The 1794-OA16 uses ta terminal base to mount and terminate signal wires to the module. Appropriate terminal bases are 1794-TBN, 1794-TBNF, 1794-TB2, 1794-TB3, 1794-TB3S, 1794-TBKD, 1794-TBNK, 1794-TBNFK, 1794-TB3K, 1794-TB3SK.

The module weighs approximately 96 grams or 3.38 ounces, and it has dimensions of approximately 3.7 x 3.7 x 2.7 inches or 94 x 94 x 69 millimeters. The minimum output voltage range for the module is 74 to 132 Volts AC at 47 to 63 Hertz and the nominal voltage rating for the module is 120 Volts AC at 47 to 63 Hertz. The output current ratings per module are 4.0 Amps maximum (16 outputs rated at 250 mA). The output current power per point is 5 mA minimum and 500 mA maximum at 55 degrees Celsius. Besides, the on-state current ratings per output are 5.0 mA minimum and 500 mA maximum at 55 degrees Celsius. The maximum power dissipation and thermal dissipation of the 1794-OA16 module are 4.7 Watts at 0.5 Amps and 16.1 BTU per hour at 0.5 Amps, respectively. The maximum voltage drops in the on-state is 1.5 Volts at 0.5 Amps. In addition, the maximum off-state leakage current is 2.25 mA while the continual isolation voltage is 120 Volts. Also, the module has an open type of enclosure. The operating temperature range of the module is 32 degrees Fahrenheit to 131 degrees Fahrenheit at 5 to 95% relative humidity, non-condensing. The temperature range for storing the module is -40 to 185 degrees Fahrenheit and the maximum surrounding air temperature is 131 degrees Fahrenheit with 5 G at 10 to 500 Hertz vibration. The 1794-OA16 module can withstand an operating shock of 30 G and a non-operating shock of 50 G, and 8 KV of air discharges as its ESD immunity level. Furthermore, the outputs of the module are not fused. Fusing is required with the 1794-TBNF Terminal Base. To use the 1794-TBN terminal base with the 1794-OA16 module, auxiliary terminal blocks are essential for connecting the associated 120 Volts AC common voltage source for individual channels. The 1794-OA16 module is also checked at 2150 Volts DC for 1 second between the system and users and checked to make sure that there is no isolation between individual channels and no isolation between the output channels and a customer power source.
