The 1794-OC16 module is a FLEX I/O 48 Volts DC rated digital output module manufactured by Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation. This module has 16 non-isolated sourcing digital outputs. It is installed by being attached to a FLEX I/O terminal base. The compatible terminal base units are the 1794-TB3SK, 1794-TB3S, 1794-TB3, 1794-TB3K, and the 1794-TB3S terminal bases. The nominal output voltage generated at any individual output is 48 Volts DC (with a minimum voltage of 30 Volts DC, and a maximum voltage of 60 Volts DC). The output current rating of the module is 8 Amps (16 x 0.5 Amps). The Flex I/O system consists of input and output modules (digital and/or analog) that are inserted into terminal blocks on which each module has a predefined value that should be adjusted on a keyswitch.
For the Allen-Bradley 1794-OC16 module, that keyswitch position is Position 2. One of the advantages of the FLEX I/O system that is installed in this way is that it allows digital and analog modules to be detached and swapped without upsetting the field wiring. Industrial automation panel manufacturers often use this module because it does not need terminal blocks between the logic control modules and industrial automation field-installed devices. The Allen-Bradley 1794-OC16 FLEX I/O module weighs around 0.11 kilograms and its dimensions are 3.7 inches x 3.7 inches x 2.7 inches. This device can be installed horizontally or vertically. Its digital outputs are not isolated from each other, but the module is tested to withstand 1900 Volts DC for 1 second between the system and users. This is a module that has 16 digital outputs with 16 yellow LED indicators that show which outputs are powered on.
