The Allen Bradley 42SMP-7000 is a versatile miniature rectangular photoelectric sensor crafted to function in tight spaces. This unit features a low-profile design that supports compact installations while delivering high performance. It supports a variety of sensing modes: standard diffuse, wide-angle diffuse, fixed-focus diffuse, ClearSight, retroreflective, and polarized retroreflective, catering to different application needs.

The sensor operates efficiently with visible light sources, including red and green LEDs, as well as infrared LEDs, ensuring versatility in different lighting conditions. A rapid response time of 500 microseconds enables quick detection, making it suitable for high-speed applications. Both NPN and PNP transistor outputs are available, allowing compatibility with differing systems.

A single red LED indicates the operational status, providing immediate visual feedback to users. Users can fine-tune the sensitivity with a 5-turn clutch-protected potentiometer, enhancing the sensor's adaptability to specific environments. The sensor is offered with connection options, including a 3-meter cable or a Micro Quick Disconnect (Micro QD) for flexibility in installation.

Field of view can be configured to either 2° or 8°, depending on the receiver setup, making the 42SMP-7000 adaptable based on the application. Constructed from robust industrial-grade plastic, this unit ensures durability and longevity. It has a protective rating of IP67, ensuring it is dust-tight and water-resistant. The sensor can operate effectively in extreme temperatures, ranging from -40 °C to +70 °C (-40 °F to +158 °F), permitting its use in harsh conditions.
