About 1775-CX-EA

The 1775-CX-EA is an Allen Bradley PLC3 expansion cable manufactured by Rockwell Automation. It is 10 feet long and weighs roughly over 0.600 kilograms and normally comes in blue color. The expansion cable is used with a wide variety of devices such as drives and PanelViews. Its compatibility is extensive; this, coupled with simplicity in design makes it easy to work with. The 1775-CX-EA is a two-headed end-to-end cable with both female and male 25 pin “D” connectors and is used for point-to-point connections. As an expansion cable to be used PLC3 devices, the 1775-CX-EA is normally pre-wired in the factory and requires little to no modifications before use. Modifications to make it a custom-length expansion should be done according to the specific need of the expansion module that connects to the cable. The number of pins corresponds to the number of wires under the sheath of the cable.

Tests can be done on the wire using special test kits that come with the devices to ascertain whether the 1775-CX-EA cable is in good condition before using it.  The expansion cable can be also used as an I/O bus expansion cable in devices that support extension of communication ports. The 1775-CX-EA should never be connected or disconnected when the power is still one as it may result in an expected PLC operation. The various pin numbers at the end of each cable function differently and should not be interchanged during installation or customization. The 1775-CX-EA like most cables should be always shielded to protect against entry of water, exposure to dust and other extreme environmental factors; or white noise from electrical signals. It should not be used in a location near a power source.
