About 1775-MEDA

The Allen-Bradley 1775-MEDA PLC-3 Error Correcting Memory Module is a 128K Static CMOS RAM module with Error Detection and Correction (EDC) installed on a single slot of the Allen-Bradley PLC-3 1775-A1, -A2), and PLC-3/10 1775-A3 processor chassis. The memory module assembly comes with a lithium (1770-XR) or nickel (1770-BH) battery which provides backup power for the memory module in the case of power failure from the PLC-3 power supply, and both batteries have a maximum backup time of 150 days (1770-XR) and 45 hours (1770-BH) at up to 60 °C. The 1775-MEDA monitors memory errors using either Error Detection and Correction (EDC) method which detect and correct soft and hard-bit memory errors automatically without disturbing the system operation, or it monitors memory errors by keeping tab of the accumulated total of the number of memory accesses in which an error is encountered.

The 1775-MEDA has a memory capacity of 128 KB, and it draws a 1.8A back-plain current from the chassis at 5V DC and 0.15A at 15V. The memory module is installed on the chassis by inserting and guiding the module into the plastic tracks on the top and bottom of the slot, and by securing its position on the chassis by snapping the chassis latch on the module. The module’s thumbnail switch is set, to address the module with a unique number.  The 1775-MEDA has an operating temperature range of 0-60 °C (32-140 °F) at 5 to 95% non-condensing relative humidity range, and it has a storage temperature range of 0-85 °C (-40-185 °F).
