The Allen-Bradley 1775-MEFA PLC-3 -3/10 Memory module Series A, is a 256K memory module for the Allen-Bradley PLC-3 3/10 programmable controller, which occupies a single memory slot in the Allen-Bradley PLC-3 processor chassis, and it comes with a battery holder with a lithium battery for longer memory backup. The 1775-MEFA stores the controller program data and backs up operations in the case of power failure, and its non-rechargeable lithium battery provides memory backup for up to 75 days. It is installed on the processor chassis, and it draws a 1.9 Amps backplane current at 5 Volts DC from the chassis power supply, and 0.15 Amps at 15 Volts DC. It has a 256K size volatile, low power Static CMOS (complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor) RAM, with Error Detection and Error Correction (EDC) capability, and when installed, the controller has LED light indicators which show the memory module status.

The 1775-MEFA provides self-monitoring via the Error Detection/Correction, and accumulation of errors for module status, and it detects and corrects soft and hard single-bit memory errors without interrupting the system operation. The 1775-MEFA is installed on the processor chassis via the following steps (1) Remove power from the chassis (2) Insert the memory module into the slot by guiding the plastic track at the top and the bottom (3) Snap the chassis latch to secure the memory module’s position on the chassis slot (4) Set the thumbwheel switch and return power to the chassis. The 1775-MEFA has a rated operating temperature range of 32 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit at a humidity range of 5 to 95%, and it has a storage range of -40 to 185 degrees Fahrenheit.
