The Allen-Bradley 1770-FAC Keyboard Module is a Series A PLC-2 Keyboard Module. It can connect to either an Allen-Bradley PLC-2 family processor or a Series 7100 ControlNet Communication (CNC) module. The keyboard is used to monitor, edit, or load the instructions of the Allen-Bradley processor program and generate ASCII report messages. The 1770-FAC Keyboard Module contains keytop overlays, a sealed touchpad, and PROM memory for sending the instruction set used to program specific processors. The users are required to follow certain steps when installing the keyboard. First, unfasten the screws on the keyboard connector to remove the cover of the connector. Second, ensure that the switch is powered off. Third, the locking lever should be lifted and moved to the "UNLOCK" position. Fourth, line up the keyboard’s support pin with the bushings on the chassis front part and insert the keyboard. Lastly, the locking lever should be lifted and moved to the "LOCK" position.
The Allen-Bradley 1770-FAC PLC-2 Keyboard Module has an alphanumeric keyboard with various other keys. The "LINE FEED" key for moving the cursor below another line in the same column. The "RETURN" key takes the cursor back to the original line. The "RUN OUT" key for deleting one or more characters. The "REPT LOCK" key continuously repeats the function of a key until it is pressed again. The "SHIFT" key turns all the keys to shift characters until it is pressed again. The "ESC" key creates an ASCII ESCAPE code. The "CTRL" key is used to create a control code. The blank yellow keys are used to create ASCII space characters.
