The Allen-Bradley 1770-FL keyboard and Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) module is found in an industrial terminal, which is a versatile and portable terminal for programming. Together with a processer made by Allen-Bradley, the module is used to edit, enter, and monitor ladder diagram programs and to display generation messages. The 1770-T3 industrial terminal system includes various items such as the keyboard connector cover (Cat. No. 1770-XB), the keyboard with keytop overlays, the industrial terminal CRT monitor (Cat. No. 1770-TA, Series B), the cables, and the user’s manual. Apart from the standard items shipped with the 1770-FL keyboard module, there are optional custom items that the users can order, such as a keyboard storage case (Cat. No. 1770-XC), a PLC-3 graphics keytop overlay (Cat. No. 1770-KDB), an alphanumeric/graphics keytop overlay (Cat. No. 1770-KAB), or an industrial terminal adapter cable (Cat. No. 1770-CB or 1770-CC). Every keyboard module is delivered with an extra keytop.

The Allen-Bradley 1770-FL keyboard contains a sealed touchpad and PROM memory unit that is used to give instructions to the keyboard when programming particular processors. When attaching the keyboard to the industrial terminal, the users are required to complete the following series of steps. First, ensure that the power is switched off. Second, unfasten the screws on the keyboard connector to remove the cover of the connector. Third, the locking lever should be lifted and moved to the "UNLOCK" position, Fourth, line up the keyboard’s support pin with the bushings on the chassis front part and fit the keyboard in. Last, the locking lever should be lifted and moved to the "LOCK" position. The Allen-Bradley 1770-FL keyboard module has an operational temperature range from 0 to 55 degrees Celsius and a storage temperature range from -40 to 65 degrees Celsius. It also has a non-condensing humidity range between 5 and 95 percent for operation and storage.
