The Allen-Bradley 1770-KFDG DeviceNet RS-232 PC Interface Module with a power supply adapter is a portable Serial RS-232 interface device designed to provide a DeviceNet network interface to host computers via a standard RS-232 port. The DeviceNet network is an open-level network protocol used in the automation industry to interconnect control devices for control and data exchange. This network protocol (DeviceNet) utilizes the Common Industrial Protocol or CIP over the Control Area Network (CAN) data layer for handling messages between controllers and devices, and it allows the operators to communicate between PLCs and control devices. The 1770-KFDG Module provides host computers (compatible desktop, laptop, and notebook computers with RS-232 Serial ports) with access to the DeviceNet network to monitor and configure the devices on the DeviceNet network.
The 1770-KFDG Module comes with an integral power supply adapter that accepts 11 to 25 Volts DC DeviceNet connector voltage and an operating current rating of 300 milliAmps. The 1770-KFDGÂ Module comes with a 5-pin unsealed DeviceNet connector for connecting to the DeviceNet network and a 9-pin RS-232 D-shell connector for connecting to an RS-232 modem cable. The 1770-KFDG Module is supplied as a factory-assembled package consisting of 2 DIN Rail mounting brackets (for DIN Rail installation), 4 DIN Rail mounting bracket fastening screws, a 6-foot-long 9-pin D-shell RS-232 null modem cable, one 1770-KFDG Interface Module, and an instruction sheet for installation. The 1770-KFDGÂ Module is designed to operate within a 0 to 50 degrees Celsius temperature range, and it has an ambient relative humidity rating of 5 to 95% (non-condensing). It weighs approximately 156 grams, and it has total mounting dimensions of 5.1 x 3.3 x 1.1 inches.
