The 1770-RG Report Generation Module is a PLC-2 Report Generation Module designed to provide a bidirectional communication point for report generation between an Allen-Bradley PLC-2 family processor and an RS-232-C peripheral device on the serial link. This module allows operators to store, edit, delete, report, and display messages in the PLC processor memory, and it can store up to 198 messages in the PC processor memory. In the “manual mode,” the operators can easily display stored messages manually via the keyboard of a peripheral device, and in the “automatic mode,” the Program Logic automatically initiates the display of stored messages. The 1770-RG Module is compatible with the common industrial report generation programming, and by using the industrial terminal modules (1770-T1, -T2, and -T3), the operators can conveniently store, delete, or edit messages even while the PC processor is executing programs.
The 1770-RG Module can be installed on any slot (except the left-most slot) of 1771 I/O Chassis, and it draws 1 Amps of maximum backplane current (at 5 Volts DC) from the I/O Chassis backplane. Standard features for the 1770-RG Report Generation Module include the real-time clock that displays message-tied time, an Intelligent Printer interface port, the built-in peripheral fault detection capability, the module re-configuration capability, the selectable communication configuration, and the adjustable Baud rates (up to 8 communication rates) that can be selected via a DIP switch. The 1770-RG Module has 5 LED indicators on the front panel used for monitoring and troubleshooting purposes, 2 cable connectors labeled “PERIPHERAL" and "PROCESSOR" for connecting to peripheral devices, and a PLC-2 processor (at 10 feet maximum cable distance). The 1770-RG Module has an operating temperature range of 0 to 60 degrees Celsius and rated relative humidity range of 5 to 95% (non-condensing).
