The 1771-E1C PLC 5 Analog Input Expander by Allen-Bradley is a device that comes with the analog input expander module which allows for a low-cost expansion capacity of an analog input of the programmable controller when used with an 8-bit analog input assembly. It is a 12-bit expander with 8 single-ended inputs and it is installed in the 1771 I/O rack. The 1771-E1C has 4 selectable input voltage ranges between +1 and +5V DC, -10 and +10V DC, 0 and +5V DC, 0 and +10V DC, and -5 and +5V DC, with 3 selectable current input ranges (4-20mA, 0-20mA, and -20-20mA). It has a module accuracy of -+0.05% of range in voltage mode and of -+0.07% of range in the current range. The module has a temperature coefficient of 35 ppm/°C in voltage mode and of 45 ppm/°C in current mode and it offers -+25V (RMS) over-voltage protection in the voltage mode and -+30mA in the current mode. The 1771-E1C has an input impedance of 109 Ohms/250 Ohms in voltage/current mode and it draws 150mA total backplane current. It uses an external power supply source with a DC rating of 15V DC at 50mA and -15V DC also at 50mA. Its operational ambient temperature ranges between 0 0C and 60 0C (32 and 140 0F) around an ambient relative humidity range of 5-95% without condensation. The 1771-E1C provides 1500V (RMS) circuit isolation and the entire module is keyed on the 1771 I/O rack by connecting the module connector between pins 8 - 10 and 24 – 26.
