The 1771-HM3A industrial memory cartridge is a CMOS memory cartridge that has been manufactured by Allen-Bradley in the PLC 5 product line. It is specially designed for use with the IMC 120 systems. This memory cartridge has lithium-ion battery backup that is provided by Allen-Bradley and it has a memory capacity of 64-kilowords. This battery has a current rating of 1700 milliamps and a voltage rating of 3.6 Volts DC. The 1771-HM3A memory cartridge works as a backup power source and it is used in the industrial memory applications. It has a 3-pin connector terminal that enables connection to devices, and it can also be used for the storage of AMP parameters and MML programs. It has an operational temperature range of 0 to 60 degrees Celsius and a storage temperature range between 0 and 60 degrees Celsius.
The Allen-Bradley 1771-HM3A memory cartridge comes with a non-condensing operational humidity range of 5 to 95 percent. It is Marine certified and it should be used in places with no electrostatic discharge, which can cause damage or degradation to the module’s performance. The 1771-HM3A CMOS memory cartridge has a lifespan of 10 years and it allows for the use of the low self-discharge battery feature. The battery should be switched on by changing the rocker switch SW1 to the "BAT ON" position during installation. It also features a red LED which indicates failures so that the users can troubleshoot the battery. When the “Motion Controller” LED fails to power up, the green LED lights up, and when the “Memory” LED turns on, the connector pin should be checked.
