The 1771-HODS module is a Converter Option ODS module that is manufactured by Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation as part of the PLC 5 module series and which is used with the 123 Motion Control System. The module can be used with ODS configuration, which helps ot to connect both the ODS terminal and the handheld pendant to the motion controller module. The handheld pendant can be connected up to 8 meters (25 cable feet) away from the RS-232 communication port on the motion controller module, and the ODS terminal can be connected up to 393 meters (1200 cable feet) away from the RS-422 communication connector on the motion controller module. The handheld pendant can also be used with the ODS and longline option with the Allen-Bradley 1771-HODS module. This longline option enables the users to connect the handheld pendant and ODS up to 393 meters away from the motion controller module.

When using the 1771-HODS module with the longline option, this module can be used to extend the ODS terminal connection up to 1200 feet away from the RS-422 connector. The 1771-HLL longline option can be used to extend the handheld pendant up to 1200 feet away from the RS-232 communication port. For more flexibility of the IMC 123 motion control system and the 1771-HODS module, there are 4 termination panels available which are each mounted on a DIN Rail. The termination panels include a Temposonic panel that supports the Temposonic linear displacement transducer. There is also the Encoder panel which supports 1 axis and additional external power for encoders and the Resolver panel which supports 1 axis in the single and dual resolver configurations.
