The Allen-Bradley 1771-IQ16K PLC is an I/O chassis programmable logic controller. It is available from the Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation PLC 5 series. The 1771-IQ16K I/O chassis PLC can support thermocouple inputs and RTD temperature inputs. It can also support I/O modules with up to 32 I/O points each. The 1771-IQ16K I/O chassis programmable logic controller has a conformal coating for protection against corrosion and moisture.

The Allen-Bradley 1771-IQ16K input module is another addition to the 1771 family. This PLC5 digital DC input module has 16 inputs and a combination of 10-32 volts of DC operating Voltage and 100 mA of backplane current. The voltage category that this device deals with is 10-60V DC and it is supported by the sink or source load. The device also comes with a conformal coating that is a chemical or polymer film coating that protects the topology of the circuit board. The interior circuit is always prone to risks of moisture, pollution, dust, and chemical contaminants. The coating is electrical insulation that helps in the maintaining of surface insulation resistance. The 1771-IQ16K module is tested for low-voltage prevention and meets the Council Directive safety requirements. The module design consists of AC proximity switches like the Allen-Bradley Bulletin 871P and other such input devices which has an OFF-state leakage current of less than 2.8mA. Another useful feature of this 1771-IQ16K input module is that it has 8 switches on the front panel which act as the status indicators. The indicators indicate the presence of voltage in the terminal. The optional fuse kits for the 1771-IQ16K output modules makes the user interface easy. The output traces are designed with surge suppression circuitry. The magnitude of the voltage in each output circuit is limited by the RC network which happens when a device is wired in series with hard or parallel contacts.
