The 1771-IX module is a thermocouple and millivolt input module manufactured by Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation as part of the PLC-5 device series. It is an intelligent block transfer module that has been designed for interfacing the analog input signals with any applicable programmable controllers through the block transfer function. The block transfer programming moves the input data words from the memory of the 1771-IX module to a selected area in the processor data table in one scan. The process also moves the configuration words in reverse from the processor data table to the module’s memory. This analog input module requires one slot for installation in a 1771 I/O chassis without the need for an external power supply. It features 8 floating differential inputs for the millivolt or thermocouple input ranges, including the E, J, T, K, S, and R thermocouple types as well as ±100 millivolts. Up to 8 inputs can be supported.
The Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation 1771-IX thermocouple and millivolt input module comes with a cold junction compensation temperature rating ranging between 0 and 60 degrees Celsius with an accuracy of ±0.5 degrees Celsius. The 1771-IX input module requires a backplane current load of 750 milliamps at 5 Volts, and it has a channel update time of 50 milliseconds per 8 channels. The wiring of this module is connected to the Allen-Bradley 1771-WI field wiring arm, which helps in eliminating the need to disconnect all of the wires while replacing the module. It has a maximum power dissipation of 4.25 Watts as well as a maximum thermal dissipation rating of 14.5 BTU per hour.
